It was a lot of fun!
On Tuesday 12th of September, my school and I went to the St Patrick’s parish hall to have a Duffy hero assembly.
In the hall, we met a person called Michel Mulipola. He is Samoan but he is based in New Zealand and he lives in South Auckland. He is funny and he is an artist and a wrestler. He illustrated a book called Headlocked with other people. He is amazing at drawing and his favourite video game is Tekken. He’s been to different countries and has met famous people and famous wrestlers.
He showed us some photos of himself using different facial expressions and told us how he used them for his drawings. He drew angry, sad and surprised expressions from the photos. He also showed us drawings of different types of Spiderman. Some drawings were of his backyard. There was hospital in one of his drawings and it was Middlemore hospital. He favours Green Lantern and he draws for our school journals. He also illustrated a book called Samoan Heroes.
After that, he gave my classmate a box of books, then someone from Room 8 thanked him for coming to visit us.
My favourite part of the morning was when he showed us those pictures of him with the different facial expressions because it was really funny.
Learning Intention: We are learning to write a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I use the appropriate language features of a recount to describe our Duffy hero assembly.
