I never knew that weddings could be so much fun!

Last week I went to a wedding at Pakuranga with my mum, my cousins, aunties and nana. We all went in different cars. When we got there we looked for a parking and quickly found one so we went inside the church right away. As soon as we were seated, we saw the maid of honour walking down the aisle. She was wearing a yellow flowy dress, while the bridesmaids were wearing red and white flowy dresses. Their dresses were really pretty. Then we all stood up as the bride started walking down the aisle in her long and beautiful pearly white gown. She looked like a star shining brightly upon us.

Then the priest said to the groom, “You may now kiss the bride!” People were clapping and laughing while I was covering my eyes. Everybody was happy for the newlyweds. Lots of people were taking pictures. Finally, when the photoshoot was over, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen went in partners and danced as they entered the reception hall. Not long after, the newlyweds followed dancing to the tune of “You raise me up”.

We took our seats as the priest was called to say the prayer before meal. Then  we went to get food. I ate sweet and sour pork, oysters, bacon and curry. I also had some apple juice which is my favourite. Meanwhile, I felt bored after sometime so I borrowed my mum’s phone and  played hungry shark evolution. Hungry shark evolution is when you eat fish and people and if you poke a bomb three times, you are dead. Then my cousin asked me if I wanted to play with her outside and I said yes. We played tag. When we finished we went back inside the reception hall to eat dessert. I had raspberry and vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake. Then everybody was requested to go back to their seats and listen to the speeches. Finally, the newlyweds thanked everybody for attending their wedding. We all had so much fun!

My favourite part of the day was eating everything especially the oysters!

Learning Intention: We are learning to follow the structure of a recount.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I can write the introduction, followed by events, and a conclusion about going to a wedding.
